His father was a famous documentarist Irakli Kandelaki. At the age of 17 Gela started his relationship with \u201cGeorgian Film\u201d.\u00a0 In 1962, he finished \u201cShota Rustaveli Theater and Film Georgia State University\u201d. In 1966, Gela finished his studies at \u201cMoscow State University\u201d, faculty of cinema directing. He is a director, actor and dramaturge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-179 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/budrugana.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/gela-kandelaki-image.jpg\" alt=\"\u10d2\u10d4\u10da\u10d0 \u10d9\u10d0\u10dc\u10d3\u10d4\u10da\u10d0\u10d9\u10d8\" width=\"360\" height=\"280\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Besides professional activities, Gela Kandelaki is very actively involved in a pedagogic life in Georgia as well as abroad of his country. He was a teacher at the \u201cShota Rustaveli Theater and Film Georgia State University\u201d and at the \u201cIvane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University\u201d. In 2009, Gela conducted a lecture in a Cinema Academy of Berlin. In 2010, he was invited as a jury for International Workshop for European Film Students (Summer MEDIA Studio 2010).<\/p>\n<p>With the guidance of Gela Kandelaki, in 2012, Lithuanian theatre created performance \u2013 \u201cBoy and Seagulls\u201d which was a synthesis of Dramatic and Shadow theatre. In 2015-2016, group of Lithuanian students came to Georgia, to study the art of hand shadow theatre, acting, dramaturgy and directing. Gela Kandelaki was a leading teacher of Lithuanian group. After successfully finishing studies, Georgian hand shadow theatre and Lithuanian theater started a strong partnership and Hand Shadow Theater Budrugana Lithuania was founded.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-185 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/budrugana.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Gela_Kandelaki_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since 2006, Gela has been in partnership with festival \u201cTbilisi Contemporary Music Evenings\u201d.\u00a0Together, they created multimedia performances.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2009, Gela has been in partnership with choreograph Mariam Aleksidze. Gela is a co-director of multiple choreography performances.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, he directed Faraj Garayev\u2019s mono-opera \u2013 \u201cTraveling in to Love\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2011, with Metropolitan Isaia of Tskhinvali and Nikozi, Gela is a co-organizer of International Animation Film Festival \u201cNikozi\u201d.
